【Whosaeng News】KOREA INSTITUTE OF RADIOLOGICAL & MEDICAL SCIENCES (KIRAMS) announced on the 8th that it held a workshop at the Jeju International Convention Center on the theme of “Leapfrogging Radiopharmaceutical Technology to Enter the Global Market,” inviting radiology experts from industry, academia, and government.
The workshop was organized by the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (KIRAMS) and the Radiation Protection Research Division of the Korea Nuclear Society to review the latest research and development trends and future prospects in the field of radiopharmaceuticals, and to discuss the global market entry of radiopharmaceutical technologies.
The first part of the workshop, which began with a greeting from Kim Kyung-min, director of the Institute of Radiology at the Medical University of Korea, focused on “Radiopharmaceuticals and Medical Applications,” with presentations on “The Future of Medical Radioisotopes” (Yoon Sang Lee, KSRAMP), “Clinical Applications of Radiotheranostics” (Sung-young Kwon, Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital),“The Role of the National RI Drug Center in Supporting Radiopharmaceutical Development” (Joo-hyun Kang, KIRAMS), and “Evolution of Bioimaging Technology”(Jeong-yeol Yeom, Korea University).
In the second part, “Future Medical Technology with New Drugs,” the medical understanding of space travel (Jang Won-il, KIRAMS),the future of radiation effects research (Son Tae-gun, DIRAMS), neutron technology to treat intractable cancer (Hong Bong-hwan, KIRAMS), and neutrino therapy technology to overcome cancer (Kim Jin-sung, Yonsei University) were introduced
Finally, in the third part, “Exploring the Policy Direction of Radiomedical Research and Technology” was presented under the theme of “Development Strategy of Radiomedical R&D” (Han-Ki Jang,KARA), followed by a general remarks and designated discussion (Hee-Sup Gil,FutureCam Co., Ltd.) based on the contents of each presentation, and a discussion on how to expand research on the development of radiopharmaceuticals and convergence of radiomedical technologies to enter overseas markets.
“In order to overcome cancer and other intractable diseases, it is essential to link the field of radiology with various fields of science and technology,” said Director Lee Jin-kyung. “By holding regular workshops, we will gather valuable insights for the development of innovative new drugs for radiology to improve the health of the public and further explore the global market.”
